We are so proud of Dana for continuing to make great strides towards her dream of running a marathon and raising awareness for Nature’s Academy and our Science Literacy Project!
After we broke the news of her successful completion of the Robinson Preserve Twilight 5K in March, Dana walked in the Marauder’s Princess and Pirates 5K in June, beating her previous time and also being recognized as an “All Star Among Us.”
Since then, the non-profit group 50 Legs donated a brand new running blade to Dana to enhance her efforts, and she ran/walked in her first race with her new blade, the Seas It 5K in New Jersey. Read all about this inspirational milestone in the recent Bradenton Herald article and look out for exciting healing-through-recreation partnerships between Nature’s Academy and Seas It in the future!
The excitement continues as Dana prepares for the next race: the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation Running for Answers 5K. Dana’s goal is to run the entire 5K on her new blade, raising awareness for the cancer that took her leg and also bringing national attention to Nature’s Academy and the Science Literacy Project. Good luck, Dana!
